Good scarce Arms of Washington, Co. Durham. viz. white shield divided into three by two red vertical bars; the top third bearing three five pointed stars unusually embroidered on khaki felt. Remove from uniform.
The town used Washington family arms, one of who’s sons was George Washington. It is said that these arms inspired the Stars and Stripes.
