Royal Irish Rifles Militia Bns. Officer’s pouch belt plate circa 1881-1901.
A good and scarce silver plated die-stamped example. Within a shamrock wreath surmounted by a crown resting on a scroll inscribed “Quis Separabit”, a Maid of Erin Harp above the Sphinx resting on a tablet inscribed “Egypt”. Below the Sphinx, a strung bugle joining both sides of the wreath; a scroll across the bugle strings “Royal Irish Rifles”. Four screw posts to reverse. Barely visible fracture between Harp and Sphinx. Slight polishing otherwise GC.
3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Militia Bns. of the Regt. were formerly the Royal North Down Rifles Militia; the Antrim (Queen’s Royal Rifles) Militia; the Royal South Down (Light Infantry) Militia; and the Louth (Rifles) Militia.

Liverpool Irish rare Victorian Sergeant’s pouch belt plate.
A good die-stamped white metal example. Crowned shamrock wreath resting on a scroll inscribed “Erin go Bragh”. Within the wreath, a disc bearing IRV, below the disc, a harp. Two screw posts to reverse.
Initially the 64th (Liverpool Irish) Rifle Volunteers based at 9 Everton Crescent, Liverpool. redesignated 18th (Liverpool Irish) Rifle Volunteer Corps in 1880, and the 5th (Irish) Volunteer Battalion, The King’s (Liverpool Regiment) in 1888. 450

Indian Army. Scinde Horse pouch belt plate, whistle etc.
A fine and scarce silver example. The plate heavily silver plated, the whistle and holder both silver by J & Co. (Jennens) bears Birmingham 1884 hallmarks. Reverse of plate now with broad slider, and supports four chain to whistle and holder in the style of a chatelaine. Good condition.

1st VB King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry KOYLI Officer’s pouch belt plate circa 1883-1901.
A fine and scarce silvered die-stamped example. Resting in a laurel wreath, a crowned Garter; to the centre, a rose within a curled bugle horn on a silvered ground. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a tri-part scroll inscribed “The King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry” with another below “1st Volunteer Battalion”. Four screw posts to reverse. One wire securing bugle to plate absent and silver solder utilised. VGC
HQ at Wakefield. Consolidated as 5th Yorkshire West Riding RV’s 1st June 1880, and became 1st VB on 1st February 1883.

2nd City of London Rifles Victorian Officer’s pouch belt plate.
A fine and scarce silver plated example. Slender Maltese cross with lions between the arms surmounted by a Crown resting on a tablet inscribed “Domine Dirige Nos”. On the cross, a circlet inscribed “2nd The City of London Rifles” with City shield to centre. Three screw posts to reverse. One or two stains to plate otherwise VGC.

Royal Artillery Surgeon’s pouch belt plate circa 1870.
A very fine and extremely scarce example comprising a rich eight pointed star, the topmost point displaced by a Crown. Mounted on the star, a pierced gilt Garter on a burnished ground; gilt gun to centre. Three screw posts to reverse complete with all three original washers and hooped securing nuts. Orb and cross surmounting Crown absent otherwise VGC

4th VB East Surrey Regiment Officer’s pouch belt plate circa 1887-1901.
A good die-stamped silvered example. Within a crowned laurel wreath, an eight pointed star bearing the Arms of Guildford. Mounted on the lower part of the wreath a scroll inscribed “The East Surrey Regiment” with additional scroll below “4th Volunteer Battalion”. Three screw posts to reverse and complete on backing plate. Overall very good condition.
.Formed as 7th Surrey RVC on 30th November 1859 at Southwark; absorbed into 26th in March 1880; became a VB of the regiment 1st July 1881; redesignated 4th VB 1st December 1887 with HQ at Clapham Junction. Became 23rd Bn, London Regiment 1st April 1908

A fine scarce example by ES & S (Edward Stillwell & Sons) bearing Birmingham hallmarksLaurel wreath surmounted by a Crown resting on a tablet inscribed “Bourbon”; the wreath bearing numerous honour scrolls. Within the wreath, a Maltese cross with lions between the angles and RR cypher to centre; the arms of the cross ornamented with further battle honours. Retains backing plate and four screw posts to reverse. VGC

4th VB Queen’s Royal West Surreys post 1883 pouch belt plate.
A fine and scarce Officer’s silver plated example. Retaing four screw posts to the reverse. GC
Originally raised 13th March 1860 at Lambeth as 19th Surrey RVC. Redesignated 7th on 3rd September 1880 with headquarters at New Street, Kennington Park , renumbered 8th only 4 days later. Became a VB of the Royal West Surrey Regiment on Friday 1st July 1881; redesigned as 4th VB on 1st March 1883. Many of it’s members served in the Boer War resulting in the Battalion being awarded the honour “South Africa 1900-02” in 1905. Became 24th (County of London) Battalion, The London Regiment on 1st April 1908.

King’s Royal Rifle Corps Officer’s 1918 hallmarked silver pouch belt plate.
A fine die-stamped example by J & Co. (Jennens) bearing Birmingham hallmarks. Maltese cross surmounted by a Victorian Crown resting on a tablet inscribed “Peninsula”. To the centre, within a circlet inscribed “The King’s Royal Rifle Corps” a strung bugle with “60” between the strings. The arms of the cross each bear four battle honours, “Toulouse” being the last. Four screw posts to reverse. Complete with backing plate. Cross surmounting orb absent otherwise very good condition.

Indian Army. 1st King George’s Own Gurkha Rifles Officer’s 1913 silver hallmarked pouch belt plate.
A very fine and scarce example by J & Co. (Jennens) bearing Birmingham hallmarks. Silver laurel wreath surmounted by a separate Crown. Laurel wreath bearing honour scrolls “Bhurtpore” “Aliwal” “Sobraon” “Tirah” “Punjab Frontier” “Afghanistan 1878-80”. To the centre, silver crossed kukris surmounted by “GRI” cypher; below the kukris a strung bugle surmounted by the numeral “1”. Below the wreath a scroll inscribed “King George’s Own Own Gurkha Rifles”. All mounted on a seeded backplate. Four screw posts to reverse. VGC
Became 1st Prince of Wales’s Own Gurkha Rifles in 1906 when he visited India, then 1st King George’s Own Gurkha Rifles when he ascended the throne upon Edward VII’s death in 1910.

A very fine and scarce silvered example. Within a Crowned wreath, half of laurel, half of palm, the Welsh Dragon. Below the wreath, a scroll inscribed “1st Battn. Monmouthshire Regiment”. Four screw posts to reverse. Excellent condition.
Formed 1st April 1908 from 2nd VB South Wales Borderers. HQ at Stow Hill, Newport.

Indian Army. Great Indian Peninsula Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps pouch belt plate.
A fine and scarce Officer’s example comprising a die-stamped silvered Crowned strap inscribed “Inimicus Inimico”. Within the strap, two conjoined shields with an elephant above and a railway engine below all on an ornate domed ground. Three screw posts to reverse. Very good condition.
Great Indian Peninsula Railway was incorporated in 1849, the Great Indian Peninsula Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps being raised 29th December 1875; a second battalion was formed on 5th August 1908 by the amalgamation of the Midland Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps, raised 22nd August 1890. The Corps were redesignated Great Indian Peninsula Railway Battalion on 1st April 1917 and Great Indian Peninsula Railway Regiment 1st October 1920. Honorary Colonel was The Governor of Bombay.

2nd Royal Lancashire Militia (“The Liverpool Linnets”) Officer’s pouch belt plate.
A fine and scarce post 1854 example. Cut silver eight pointed star; mounted to the centre, gilt Crowned circlet bearing green enamelled laurel wreath; to the centre, the red enamelled rose of the House of Lancaster. Two screw posts to reverse. Minor wear to gilt, on or two extremities AF, generally VGC
These plates were officially converted from the unit’s previous rectangular shoulder belt plates when the unit assumed the title “Duke of Lancaster’s Own Rifles” in 1854 and took to wearing the pouch belt in place of the Infantry shoulder belt.

Indian Army. 26th Punjabis rare Officer’s pouch belt plate circa 1903-22.
A good silvered example. Within a laurel wreath surmounted by a crown on a blank tablet, a Maltese cross with ball finials to the tips and lions between the angles. To the centre, “26” within a circlet inscribed “Punjabis”. Four screw posts to reverse. Complete with backing plate. Good condition.
Became 2nd Bn. 15th Punjab Regiment in 1922.

A very fine silver plated example. Within a laurel wreath surmounted by a Crown resting on a tablet inscribed “Waterloo”, a Maltese cross with lions between the arms and ball finials to the tips. To the centre, within a circlet inscribed “Rifle Brigade”, a crowned strung bugle. The arms of the cross bear numerous honours of the Regiment. Across the base of the wreath, a two tier scroll inscribed “Copenhagen 2 April 1801” with nautical crown below. Four screw posts to reverse and complete with original backing plate. VGC
!n 1958 became part of The Green Jackets Brigade.
