1st West India Regiment Officer’s shoulder belt plate circa 1840.
A scarce example comprising a gilt rectangular plate mounted with pierced gilt crowned strap inscribed “West India” with “1” to centre set on a domed white enamel ground. Three silver scrolls mounted on the plate, to the left “Martinique”, to the top “Dominica” and to the right “Guadeloupe”. Brace of hooks and studs to reverse. Enamel with minor defects, traces of gilt only otherwise GC

62nd (Wiltshire) Regiment of Foot Crimea War Period pre 1855 OR’s shoulder belt plate.
A good scarce example comprising a rectangular brass plate die-stamped with a star bearing crowned strap inscribed “or Wiltshire” with “62” to the centre; a scroll inscribed “Peninsula” across the lower part of the star. Reverse complete with original fixings comprising two hooks and two studs. VGC
The 62nd saw a great deal of action in the Crimea notably on 5th April 1855 attack on the Quarries and the final assault on the Redan on 8th September 1855.

Royal Marine Light Infantry Officer’s Crimean War Period shoulder belt plate circa 1830-55.
A very fine and scarce example. Burnished gilt rectangular plate, the centre mounted with the Royal Crest in high relief. Above the Royal Crest, an ornate scroll inscribed “Gibraltar”; below another inscribed “Per mare per terram”. Reverse retains original fixings comprising two hooks and two studs. Generally VGC.

57th (West Middlesex) Regiment OR’s cross belt plate circa 1840-55.
A scarce example in heavy die-stamped brass, the rectangular plate with raised designs comprising the crown over “57” with laurel sprays in three-quarter surround, above the crown the honour scroll, “Albuhera”. The four broad tang fasteners probably never fitted, four incorrect loops to reverse are now present. VGC

72nd (Duke of Albany’s Own Highlanders) OR’s cross belt plate circa 1825-55.
A good scarce rectangular die-stamped brass example (Parkyn 477); the central design shows the crown over “72” with surrounding thistle sprays, a floreated scroll above, “Duke of Albany’s” and below “Own Highlanders”. Two hooks (old replacements) and two studs to the reverse.

Scottish. Royal Scots Volunteer Officer’s shoulder belt plate circa 1888-1908.
A good scarce example. Burnished silvered rectangular plate mounted with silvered Star of the Order of the Thistle with central gilt motto and Thistle set on a green translucent enamel ground (now replaced with non vitreous green backing). Reverse retains original fixings comprising two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom. Very good condition

West Leicestershire Volunteers Georgian Officer’s 1807 hallmarked silver shoulder belt plate.
An exceptionally fine and rare example bearing London hallmarks. Silver oval plate inscribed with Crowned GR Cypher to centre; “West Leicestershire” around the top, “Volunteers” around the base. Reverse retains original fixings comprising single hook and two studs as well as the original chamois leather backing. Excellent condition.
Lieut.Colonel commanding Thomas Viscount Wentworth; Lieut.Colonel Edmund Cradock Hartop Bt. Both Officers’ commissions dated 2nd November 1803 indicating the date the unit was raised.

Loyal Chelmsford Volunteers rare Georgian Officer’s shoulder belt plate circa 1798-1808.
A good example comprising a burnished gilt oval plate inscribed with Crowned GR Cypher within the legend “Loyal Chelmsford Volunteers”. Reverse retains original fixings comprising single hook and two studs. Gilt worn otherwise GC
The 1801 list shows this Essex unit to have only three Officers : Captain Thomas Frost Gepp, First Lieutenant John Oxley Parker and Second Lieutenant George Welsh. All were commissioned upon the unit’s formation on 26th April 1798. The unit’s agent was Mr.Dickson of Bateman’s Buildings, Soho.

Gordon Highlanders Officer’s shoulder belt plate.
A post 1881 example. Burnished gilt rectangular plate mounted with cut silver Thistle Star. To the centre a Stag’s head and Coronet within a title strap with thistle spray base. Above the centre an applied Sphinx resting on a tablet inscribed “Egypt”; below the centre the Tiger on a tablet inscribed “India”.
Reverse retains original fixings comprising two hooks and two studs (one stud an old replacement now no longer present). Gilt worn to base metal, minor wear to highpoints otherwise GC

49th (The Princess Charlotte of Wales’s or Hertfordshire) Regiment of Foot Officer’s shoulder belt plate circa 1843-55.
A very fine and rare example. Seeded gilt rectangular plate with raised burnished edges; mounted to the centre, a gilt laurel wreath. Within the wreath, a crowned circlet inscribed “Princess Charlotte of Wales”; to the centre “49” resting on a Union spray with scroll above inscribed “Hertfordshire”. Battle honours “Egmont-op-Zee”, “Queenstown” “China” and “Copenhagen” entwined in the wreath; below the wreath, the Dragon. Reverse complete with original fixings comprising two hooks and two studs. Coldstream Guards Superb Crimean War Officer’s shoulder belt plate.
A very fine and scarce pre 1855 attributed example. Seeded gilt rectangular plate mounted with silver Garter Star on a gilt slip; mounted on the Star, a pierced gilt Garter on a rich blue enamel ground (defective); within the Garter, the Cross of St.George in red translucent enamel. Reverse retains original fixings comprising two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom. Retains original leather backing bearing ink inscription “J.A.C. Coldstream Guards. Crimea 1854. 1855. 1856”. (Parkyn 66)
The only Officer in the regiment with these initials during this time was James Alfred Caulfield. Commission 10/11/48; Ensign & Lieutenant 14/09/52; Lieutenant & Captain 12/01/55

76th Foot Officer’s shoulder belt plate circa 1848-55.
A very fine and attractive example comprising a seeded gilt rectangular plate with burnished edges. Mounted on the plate, a cut silver Maltese cross with rays between the arms; mounted on the cross, a gilt wreath, half of laurel, half of palm surmounted by a Crown resting on a scroll inscribed “Hindoostan” with further scroll below inscribed “Nive”. To the centre, a silver elephant over LXXVI. On the lower arm of the cross, a gilt scroll inscribed “Peninsula”. Reverse retains original fixings comprising two hooks and two studs.
