A rare example in “Welflex” black fur felt complete with mohair band and original cap badge in gold and blue embroidery. The interior with cotton sweetband (This with damage to the back section not visible from the otside). Minor age wear, near VGC.

Royal Field Artillery Officer’s 1878 pattern helmet.
A fine example of the post 1901 Home Service Pattern blue cloth helmet complete with gilt metal cross piece, ball and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain. To the front, the Royal Arms in gilt, with piercing around the shield, a scroll below inscribed “Ubique”. Below the scroll, a gun with mounted wheel and below the gun a scroll inscribed “Quo fas et gloria ducunt. The interior with leather sweatband with crimson silk edging. Also tailor's details of "T.McBride & Son London". Gilt remains bright and fresh. VGC. ... Contained in an associated metal storage tin this with painted name A Wighton RFA (T). The tin with retailers details of Wm Anderson & Sons Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The tin is attributed to Captain Alfred Annan Wighton RFA who served during the GReat War and was awarded the 1914/15 Star, BWM, VM. He is known to have been a resident of Edinburgh.

Welsh. 1st Brecknockshire Rifle Volunteers Victorian Officer’s helmet.
A fine rare example of an Officer’s Home Service Pattern blue cloth helmet complete with silvered metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain. To the front, a silvered metal eight pointed star, the topmost point displaced by a Crown, to the centre the regimental device of Prince of Wales's plume, this encircled by a title scroll “1st Brecknockshire R.V.” Leather sweatband to interior with crimson silk edging. Contained in it’s original metal storage tin. Minor wear to silver, otherwise near VGC.

Indian Mutiny Period 31st Bengal Native Infantry Field Officer’s shako & Cotton Cover.
A very fine and scarce 1855-61 example complete with white linen cover for hot climate. Black beaver skin with black patent leather crown, neck and front peaks; two rows of gold lace around top of the crown denote Colonel’s or Lieutenant Colonel’s rank. To the front a fine fire eight pointed star, the topmost point displaced by a Crown; mounted on the star, a laurel wreath encircling a strap inscribed “Bengal Native Infantry”; “31” to centre on a burnished gilt ground. Woollen white over red tuft to crown. The interior retains original leather sweatband with crimson silk edging and waxed silk lining. Black patent leather chinstrap and blackened mask to reverse of shako on the top line of gold lace. To the inside of the crown, an original paper tailor’s label of Garden and Son, Army Cap and Helmet Makers of 200 Piccadilly, London. The shako is accompanied by its original white linen Foreign Service Cover with 3-button fastenings to each side; the linen now stained and with minor holes and tears. Shako and cover are housed in japanned carrying tin. Shako VGC
The shako is attributed to Lt. Gen. Frederick George Lister. Born 1790, died 1870. Originally commissioned as ensign into the 26th Native Infantry in 1806. Lt. 1808. Capt. 1824. Maj. 1839. Lt. Col. 1845. Col. 1855. Maj. Gen. 1857. Lt. Gen 1869. Posted as Colonel to the 31st Bengal Native Infantry in 1855.

Royal Dragoons 1871 pattern Victorian Officer’s helmet.
A very fine example worn by Major the Honourable Arthur Hamilton-Russell. Silvered skull surmounted by a gilt metal crosspiece and plume socket supporting a black horsehair plume with gilt rose boss. Skull ornamented with a laurel wreath above the front peak and an oak leaf band rising from the edge of the neck piece and terminating under the crosspiece at the top. To the front a cut gilt eight pointed star mounted with silver oval strap inscribed “The Royal Dragoons’; gilt pre 1901 Royal Crest to centre. Gilt rose pattern ear bosses support the 1 inch wide, leather backed, plain burnished chinchain (now with stitching faults). Complete with original silk padded lining (part shot). The helmet remains in fine original condition, GC. ... Complete with metal storage tin. This brass engraved name plate “The Hon A. Hamilton-Russell Royal Dragons”. The tin with a little age wear GC.
Major the Honourable Arthur Hamilton-Russell was the brother to Viscount Boyne. He served with the Royal Dragoons during the Boer War and was wounded in Natal. He was also MID. At the outbreak of the Great War, he was serving with the North Irish Horse and it was with this Regiment he embarked for France in 1915 and would remain there until 1918. He retired from the Regiment with the rank of Major.

Royal Horse Guards Officer’s Household Cavalry peaked forage cap circa 1937-52.
A fine and scarce George VI example by Herbert Johnson, London. Black cloth body and crown with scarlet cap band and piping to the welt of the crown. To the front, a gilt crowned Garter, pierced and set on a blue enamel ground; centre with GVIR Cypher on red translucent enamel ground. Black patent leather peak with gold bullion decoration; black patent leather chinstrap supported by two gilt buttons mounted with crowned RHG cypher. Complete with leather sweatband. Minor servic ewear.

A scarce example of regimental pattern by Conway Williams, London and Camberley. Dark blue curtain, body and peak. The front decorated with two gilt mounted regimental buttons, and a crimson cord boss mounted with a silvered Sphinx on “Egypt” tablet. To the left side, bullion embroidered Prince of Wales' plumes. The crown of regimental facing colour, with bullion piping. The interior with cotton lining. Some moth damage to the edging and small moth holes. GC.

WW1 Machine Gun Corps 12th Division British Army Western Front B Pattern Brodie helmet.
A very rare example, worn by a machine gunner of the 12th Eastern Division. The B pattern shell with a green sand mix paint finish. To the front a yellow MGC badge set on a black square. To the back a painted Ace of Spades. The interior with original 2nd pattern lining of oil skin and netting. Complete with contemporary leather strap which has been used as the chin strap. Untouched original dusty condition.
The 12th Eastern Division served throughout WW1 on the Western Front.

WW1 1916 Battle of the Somme A Pattern Brodie Helmet RAMC Divisional Badge.
A very rare example of the A pattern raw edge Brodie helmet with the first pattern lining. The shell has had the light green factory finish, over painted with a darker colour sand mix, a common practice in France. To the front an original divisional badge of an inverted triangle blue, red, blue with a Red Cross to the red band. The interior with original oilskin lining of the 1st pattern. This example with the addition of contemporary padded newspaper, this been a copy of the London Mail dated April 29th 1916. Parts of the original two piece chinstrap remain. The helmet remains in good condition with some serve dents.

Loyal Suffolk Hussars Great War Officer’s cap.
A good example, complete with OSD cap badge and correct thin leather chin strap. The chin strap secured by plain bronze buttons, typical to Yeomanry regiments at this time. The interior with leather sweatband. Good clean condition. Evidence of possibly another badge having been worn, however the Suffolk Cap badge appears to be contempory. GC.

Royal Westmoreland Militia Officer’s 1844-55 "Albert" shako.
A very fine and exceedingly rare example. The body of black beaver skin with black patent leather crown, neck and front peaks. To the front a fine silvered crowned star mounted with a curled bugle with entwined VR Cypher to the centre and title scroll below inscribed “Royal Westmoreland”. The interior retains crimson silk topped leather sweatband. Silver gimp velvet backed chinchain supported on either side by a silver rose head boss. Minor age wear to the exterior, otherwise VGC. This pattern was not worn with a woollen ball tuft.
Royal Westmoreland Militia became the 4th Battalion Border Regiment on Friday 1st July 1881.

WW1 Military style “Bombay Bowler” foreign service helmet.
A good quilted example. The interior retains with leather sweatband and cream pleated cotton lining, this with an Indian Tailor's stamp, bearing a Victorian Royal Coat of Arms. Complete with full length leather strap, which goes over the top of the helmet. Remains in good condition with a little service wear and dusty.

France. National Gendarmerie a Cheval 1913 pattern helmet.
A fine example by Franck & Ses Fils, Aubervilliers. Gilt metal skull with nickel silver binding and with silvered helmet plate to the front depicting a flaming grenade. Mounted on the crown, a silvered metal comb ornamented with floral leaf decoration to either side. The front bears Medusa’s head looking forward, the comb supports bristle brush. To the left side, a silvered plume holder supports a red cut feather plume (possibly a replacement). A pair of lion’s head circular brass bosses support a set of leather backed silvered chin scales. The interior retains original cloth sweatband and adjustable leather lining formed by seven tongues. Horsehair mane to reverse absent otherwise VGC. Housed in large black painted transit / storage tin.

WW1 An Important Gor-Blimey Other Rank’s issue cap.
A rare example of the 1915 issue service dress cap worn by a solders serving in all theatres of operations, including the Western Front and Gallipoli. Khaki serge material, with small peak. The neck flap is with stitched lines and with flaps across the top. Retaining thin brown leather special pattern chinstrap. The interior retains silver grey cloth lining with spiral stitching. One very small area of moth to the reverse, this does not effect the overall appearance. GC.
The Gor Blimey cap was introduced after the harsh winter of 1914, its unmilitary appearance lead to its christening, presumably by one of the fist senior NCO’s to set eyes on it.
