Boer War period Victorian Royal Navy Officer's cap badge.
A good scarce bullion example. Crowned laurel wreath with gilt fouled anchor to centre set on a black velvet ground. Some service wear, and mothing to edges of backing cloth otherwise GC

This pattern of the badge was introduced in 1891 and replaced in 1901 upon Edward's succession following the death of Queen Victoria on the 22nd January. The gilt anchor indicates civil branch rather than the more usual silver anchor which indicated executive branch.
